The Habersham County woman suspected of murdering a man in Cornelia is now back in Habersham.

22-year-old Anslee Danielle Foster, of Clarkesville, was taken into custody on September 30 at a women’s homeless shelter in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She was returned home to Georgia and booked into the Habersham County jail on Thursday, Oct. 3, according to jail officials.

Foster is charged in the death of 36-year-old Christopher Elderth of Cornelia. Elderth was found dead Sunday morning, September 29, at a residence at 846 Straight Street in Cornelia. Autopsy results revealed he died from multiple stab wounds and sharp force trauma, according to officials.

Police were initially called to the residence on Straight Street in response to a possible suicide. Cornelia Police investigators suspected foul play and asked the GBI to help investigate. The Banks County Sheriff’s Office also assisted in the investigation.

“This was an isolated incident and at this time we are unfamiliar if the suspect and victim knew each other,” says Cornelia Police Chief Chad Smith. “Please keep the family of the victim in your prayers.”

In addition to murder, Foster is charged with a felony probation violation according to the arrest report.

Memorial Services will be held for Elderth at 7 p.m., Friday, October 4, 2019, at Whitfield Funeral Home in Demorest. The family will receive friends from 5-6:45 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
