Hall County sheriff’s investigators have charged a 45-year-old woman with murdering her 82-year-old fiancé. Deputies arrested Tabitha Zeldia Wood on Friday, three days after deputies discovered her fiancé dead in their Gainesville home. She had been living in the house with his dead body for at least two months, officials say.

On June 7, Hall County deputies found Leroy Franklin Kramer, Jr. dead while conducting a welfare check at the couple’s Candler Road residence. Deputies went to the house after Kramer’s stepdaughter said she was worried about him because she had not had any contact with him in several months.

“Ms. Wood was also at the residence and told deputies Mr. Kramer had died the first week of April. She had been living in the residence with the body since that time,” says Hall County Sheriff’s Public Information Officer BJ Williams.

An autopsy determined Kramer died from homicide. As a result, deputies arrested Wood and charged her with felony murder, aggravated assault, and concealing a death.

She remains in the Hall County Jail. The murder investigation is ongoing.
