A 19-year-old has been arrested and charged with the murder of a 16-year-old girl from Gwinnett County.
The Gainesville Police Department reported on its Facebook page that Ja’quez Jeremiah Marquis Sims of Gainesville was taken into custody after a search warrant was executed at his residence on Swann Drive.
The victim was identified as Jaishawn Overstreet. Police say Sims has also been charged with aggravated assault and felony murder.
The GBI, Georgia Department of Corrections, Hall County Sheriff’s Office, and Gainesville Police Department worked together on the case, the release states.
