Gainesville police searching for man they say shot, killed 25-year-old

Gainesville police are asking for the public’s help to find a suspected killer. 55-year-old Armando Alanis Escamilla is wanted for felony murder in the shooting death of Cristian Jimenez.

Police found the 25-year-old Jimenez wounded and lying in the backyard of a residence in the 2200 block of Catalina Drive Thursday night, October 13. Escamilla lived at the address and fled the scene before police arrived.

Emergency personnel transported Jimenez to Northeast Georgia Medical Center where he died.

“Through the course of the investigation, information was quickly developed that Armando Alanis Escamilla, a known party to the victim was responsible for the shooting death,” the police department says.

Investigators obtained warrants on Escamilla. They don’t have a motive for the shooting at this time.
