Authorities have made an arrest in connection with a shooting that left one dead and one injured on Monday, Feb. 10, according to the Gainesville Police Department.

Police have arrested Kendrick Deshaun Goss, 44, of Gainesville, who now faces a felony murder charge after he allegedly shot and killed Kendrick McClendin at the Texaco gas station at 100 Athens Street in Gainesville following an early morning altercation at a party, according to authorities.

During the incident, police say a bullet also struck a woman – who was with McClendin – in the arm.

“Athens Street was closed for a short time,” Gainesville Police Chief Jay Parrish said. “It was reopened later in the day following the conclusion of our investigation at the scene and we are grateful for the public’s understanding while that necessary work was undertaken.”

Parrish also expressed gratitude for the swift collaboration that led to the arrest.

“I am thankful for the teamwork by multiple agencies and the community who came together to quickly solve this crime and apprehend the one responsible for the senseless death,” he said.

Goss remains in the Hall County Jail and faces multiple charges including felony murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

The Hall County Sheriff’s Office, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the Hall County District Attorney’s Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Safe Streets Task Force assisted in efforts to investigate and apprehend Goss.
