Gainesville City Manager Bryan Lackey has been named the 2024 Appointed Official of the Year.
The recognition came at the Georgia Mountains Regional Commission’s (GMRC) annual meeting on Friday, Dec. 6, at the Boathouse at Lake Lanier.
Criteria for the award’s recipients include a demonstration of leadership, support and vision for GMRC.
“Bryan has championed new ideas, embraced creativity and inspired those around (him) to think beyond the conventional,” GMRC Executive Director Heather Feldman said. “His dedication to the principles of good governance and service embodies what it means to be a leader, serving with integrity and passion for the betterment of our community and region.”
GMRC is one of 12 planning and development districts in Georgia that aims to provide technical assistance to 12 counties and 37 municipalities in areas of planning, economic development, information services/technology, and workforce development.
GMRC’s also looks to promote regional cooperation as well as coordination of policy among member governments.
“It’s an honor to serve in Gainesville and this region, and I’m equally honored and humbled to be recognized for all the efforts and successes realized by both our city of Gainesville, Georgia team, and our colleagues throughout the best region in the state,” Lackey said.
