Gainesville brothers charged with murder

Two teenagers are in custody in connection with the November 8 shooting death of a Gainesville man. Hall County sheriff’s investigators took the teens into custody late Wednesday night

Jamarco Patton, 16, and Syn’sere Antrell Deshaun Patton, 17, both of Gainesville, have been charged as adults with felony murder, aggravated battery and aggravated assault in the death of Christopher Dixon, 25. The suspects are brothers, says Hall County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson B.J. Williams.

The suspects turned themselves in to HCSO investigators in the Atlanta area where authorities had tracked them since the time of the murder.

On Tuesday morning, deputies responded to a 911 call about a shooting in the 1300 block of Brown Street. At the scene, they found Dixon with a gunshot wound to his chest. He was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville where he died from his injuries.

Early in the investigation, law enforcement acted on information indicating the pair had barricaded inside an apartment in Gainesville. The Hall County SWAT team was dispatched to Harrison Square complex on Athens Street. After securing the building where the suspects were believed to be, SWAT members moved in but did not find them.

The sheriff’s office said at the time they believed the shooting was isolated, however, the motive for Dixon’s murder remains under investigation. Additional charges are pending, Williams says.

Syn’sere Patton is being held at the Hall County Jail, while Jamarco Patton is in custody at the Regional Youth Detention Center (RYDC) in Gainesville. Both suspects are being held without bond.
