A two-vehicle wreck on GA 365 east of Clarkesville injured seven people, including a 7-year-old girl from Alto. Emergency personnel responded to the wreck near the Tom Arrendale interchange just before noon on Saturday, July 15.

According to the Georgia State Patrol’s preliminary crash report, Gary Owens, 42, of Eastanollee, was driving a Saturn Vue west on Rock Road near the interchange. Troopers say Owens failed to yield at the intersection and pulled out in front of a Ford Escape traveling northbound on GA 365.

The Vue struck the Escape, driven by 32-year-old Donald Jarrard of Alto.

Macayla Jarrard, 23, of Cornelia, sustained suspected serious injuries. Others hurt in the wreck were Kevin Goss, 22, of Monroe; Nicholas Ussery, 29, of Gainesville; and Nicole Ussery, 50, of Buford.

The wreck shut down the highway from Tom Arrendale Interchange to Rock Road near the Stephens County line for several hours.

The state patrol says charges are pending against Owens.
