GA 197 blocked temporarily due to rollover wreck

GA 197 North was blocked temporarily Saturday morning due to a rollover wreck just north of the intersection of Tech School Road.

The accident happened shortly before 10 a.m. Saturday morning when dispatchers received a call that there was a rollover wreck on GA 197 with a possible entrapment.

Habersham County Sheriff’s Office, Clarkesville Police Department, and Clarkesville Fire Department responded according to Habersham County Dispatch.

According to the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office, the driver was able to exit the vehicle without assistance from emergency personnel and received only minor injuries.

Preliminary reports from a Habersham County deputy and a witness at the scene state that the Smart fortwo sub-compact vehicle was traveling north on GA 197 when it left the roadway and struck a culvert causing the vehicle to overturn.

GA 197 North was blocked for nearly an hour while emergency personnel cleared the scene.

The Habersham County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the accident.
