Funeral today for former White County school superintendent

(Cleveland)- Funeral services will be held Wednesday for a former White County educator and community leader.

Horace James Fitzpatrick spent 18 years in the classroom and served as Superintendent of White County Schools for 12 years, beginning in 1968. He also worked at the education service agency, Pioneer RESA for 5 years and spent 10 years with the Georgia State Department of Education before retiring. He was involved in his community and a member of Mossy Creek United Methodist Church.

Fitzpatrick was honored by the state and his community in 2015 where he was presented with a Proclamation of Appreciation from the White County Board of Commissioners, a Certification of Appreciation by State Representative Terry Rogers, and certificate and an American Flag from Ninth District Congressman Doug Collins.

Horace Fitzpatrick died Sunday at the age of 87. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 AM at Mossy Creek United Methodist Church.
