Funeral services are scheduled Sunday for a White County man who was killed in a tractor accident. 82-year old Lamon Kinsey died Thursday, April 9, after he was thrown from his tractor while working on his property on Highway 254. Kinsey, an Air Force veteran who served in Korea, was retired from his job as Vice President of Instructional Services at North Georgia Technical College in Clarkesville.
Family members tell Now Habersham they believe Kinsey hit a stump while bush hogging and was knocked off the tractor. He was crushed by the back wheel of the tractor.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 pm Sunday, April 12, at Macedonia United Methodist Church in Cleveland with Rev. Garvis Kinsey officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with military honors provided by the Georgia National Guard.
The family will receive friends at McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home in Cornelia from 2-4 & 6-8 pm Saturday, April 11.
Lamon Kinsey is survived by his wife of 51 years, Joan Barron Kinsey of Cleveland; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa & Rob Whitaker of Cleveland and granddaughters, Jennifer Whitaker and Kathryn Whitaker.
