Funeral services scheduled for two Cornelia women killed in wreck on GA 15/US 441


Funeral services will be held this week for two local retired teachers who were killed in a car accident on GA 15/US 441 on Friday.

Former Baldwin Elementary School kindergarten teacher Elaine Simmons and her aunt, retired Hall County school teacher Bobbie Suggs Harrison, both lived in Cornelia.

The 87-year-old Harrison was a lifelong resident of the Pea Ridge Community. She taught second Grade at Lula Elementary School for 25 years, according to her obituary.

Harrison’s funeral is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, September 15, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

Simmons retired from the Habersham County School System in 2008. She taught kindergarten at Baldwin Elementary School.

Simmons’ funeral is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Monday, September 16, in the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin and Stewart Funeral Home located at 175 VFW Road in Cornelia.

The family will receive visitors from 5-8 pm on Sunday, September 15, at the funeral home.
