Fundraiser for family of preschooler killed in Cleveland Ingles parking lot

An online fundraiser has been set up for the family of a young boy killed in a grocery store parking lot Tuesday in Cleveland.

3-year old Easton Cain died when he was pinned between a pickup and SUV in the Ingles parking lot off of Helen Highway. The driver of the truck that hit him, 36-year old James Holcomb of Cleveland, is charged with DUI and first degree vehicular homicide.

Easton is the son of Casey and Kala Cain of Cleveland. Kala is a nurse with Northeast Georgia Health System in Gainesville. She’s Katie Edsall’s co-worker and friend. Edsall set up the Go Fund Me account to help the family. She calls Kala “one of the most caring people I know.”

“I can’t even imagine the kind of stress and grief she is enduring at this time,” Edsall told Now Habersham.

Edsall says she’s “overwhelmed” by the love and support shown by the community and strangers. Within three hours of setting up the fundraiser, over $5,000 was raised.

Donations are still being accepted. Edsall says the money will be given to the Cain family to help with funeral costs and other expenses. To donate, visit https://www.gofundme.com/easton-cain.
