A collision between a car and a semi-truck resulted in no injuries but left quite a mess on the road Helen. Crews spent nearly five hours cleaning up a fuel spill.
The Thursday afternoon wreck occurred at the intersection of Helen Highway and Highway 17 in Sautee.
White County Fire and Emergency Management ensured the scene was safe for other first responders and individuals involved. The agencies also helped mitigate the damage caused by the spill.
Local officials notified the Georgia Environmental Protection Division about the spill. They also alerted state transportation officials to the extended road closure.
The roadways reopened around 8:30 p.m. on August 3.
