Rabun outlasted Stephens in Week 2 action, giving the #6 Wildcats their first win of 2016 after their opener at Mt. Pisgah was two minutes from becoming an official game when it was “lightning” out.
Whereas Rabun and Stephens have only met seven times, the Wildcats take on a much more familiar opponent and rival in White County. The excitement surrounding this game is that although the two have met 34 times, they have not squared off since 2001. 15 years ago, the Warriors took a 17-14 win, snapping a seven-game losing streak in the series that is owned by Rabun County (24-10).
Look for the Wildcats to continue to impress in all facets of the game, as junior QB Bailey Fisher, who three for 270-plus yards and ran for another 101 in the win over Stephens, scoring three touchdowns using his legs. Senior RB Cal Drummond was also phenomenal, racking up 201 rushing yards. The offensive line and defense are playing some great football.
White County has fallen to Franklin in Week 0, had a game canceled for lighting in Week 1 at Lumpkin and fell last week to Habersham Central despite holding a comfortable lead with just over three minutes left in the game.
Players to watch include Rabun JR QB Bailey Fisher (Pre-season All-State QB), SR RB Cal Drummond and SR WR/P Noah Cannon (All-State Punter). Also worth looking out for is White County SR RB Nasser Clark, JR QB Caleb Crane and JR RB Desmond Lowery.
