FRESH & LOCAL at the Clarkesville Farmers Market, September 3

Have a safe and happy Labor Day Weekend from everyone at the market!

Conveniently located near downtown Clarkesville, the Clarkesville Farmers Market is a 100% chemical free outdoor market (which includes up to six Certified Naturally Grown farms) that’s open Saturdays, 9 a.m. until noon. It’s located next to The Old Clarkesville Mill (683 Grant Street).

This week’s vendors:

Angel Mountain Sweets: Have you tried Sherrie’s home baked cakes, breads, and other sweets made with non-GMO and organic ingredients? How about Don’s best-selling cheddar biscuits? They always have a nice variety to choose from including cinnamon rolls, muffins, and a new item―tomato jam!

Aprons–Ties That Bind: Sadie Kelly is a local maker of aprons, aprons, and more aprons. She makes them for babies, children, teens, women, and even men. Some aprons are fun, others are cute, others are creative, but all are great for utilitarian use―the original purpose for aprons. In the kitchen, in the shop, in the garden, in the artist’s studio, or at a party. No two are ever exactly the same. And while you’re at the market, be sure to pick up a flyer that explains the bond created by aprons.

Becca’s Baking: Becca will be selling delicious home baked cookies, rosemary bread, trail mix granola bars, caramel corn, and ice cold handmade tea! Becca’s also bringing Christi’s hand-painted greeting cards. Please stop by the booth and check them out!

Deepwater Farm (CNG): Douglas and Joanne think they’re bringing mixed chard, green beans, a variety of eggplant, traditional and Burmese okra, and Dixie butter peas.

Jarhead Farm (CNG): Cliff is bringing sweet and hot peppers, Asian eggplant, Philippine Sitao, Thai white seeded long beans, maybe some straggling summer squash but certainly winter Hokkaido, Rai Kaw Tuk squash, and Puerto Rican pumpkin (calabaza). Looking for a delicious gift? Try, then take home some of his tasty whole fruit jams; they come in a variety of sweet, tart, and even some with heat.

Mill Gap Farm (CNG): Chuck will be bringing green beans, okra, red pontiac potatoes, garlic, lemon grass, basil, and sage.  He’ll also have Burmese Peanuts, cardamom morning rolls, sunflower salad oil, and Jerusalem artichoke pickles.

Pure & Simple: Lisa is excited about her two new products in the mix: hair lotion/beard oil & essential oil roll-ons in three popular scents―citrus, lavender, and peppermint. She’ll have a variety of naturally handmade soaps, lip balm, sugar/salt scrub, deodorant, sunscreen, bug repellent, household cleaner, pain cream, body butter, hair oil, hand sanitizer, facial cream, liquid soap, foaming soap, dog & people shampoo bars, laundry soap, bath salts, shave soap, and herbal teas.
