UGA Extension in Banks and Habersham is offering the Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) at no cost. It is a one-year, lifestyle change program for people who are prediabetic or at risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes.
Over 35% of American adults are estimated to have prediabetes with 1 in 3 American adults to be prediabetic.
If your doctor has told you that you have prediabetes, or if you’re simply curious about your risk, you can take a quick 60-second test to find out if you’re at a higher risk.
Successful participants in the DPP reduce their risk of developing Type 2 diabetes by nearly 60%.
This year-long program includes weekly one-hour sessions with a lifestyle coach and fellow participants, where you’ll get the tools, support, and guidance you need to make lasting changes. Classes begin February 3, 2025.
If you’re interested, simply fill out the form or contact the Habersham County Extension office at 706-754-2318. You can also email [email protected].
