District 2 Public Health and the Georgia Mountain Food Bank are teaming up for a free COVID-19 testing and food distribution event this Friday, May 1.
The event will be held at the lower field at Allen Creek Soccer Complex located at 2500 Allen Creek Road in Hall County. It is open to all residents who live in the district which includes Banks, Dawson, Forsyth, Franklin, Habersham, Hall, Hart, Lumpkin, Rabun, Stephens, Towns, Union, and White counties.
The nose swab tests will be administered free but you must have a referral, says District 2 DPH spokesperson Dave Palmer. To get a referral call 770-531-5600 or your local health department.
The call center is open from 8 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday.
The food distribution is available to everyone – no referral or appointment is needed. One package of food per car can be picked up between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. or until supplies run out. Also, a package of food will be given to each vehicle at the testing site while supplies last.
