The Northeast Health District will host a pop-up mobile clinic in downtown Athens this Wednesday, May 12, from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. The mobile clinic will be located on College Avenue between Hancock Avenue and Washington Street, near City Hall, and will provide free COVID-19 vaccines and HIV testing.
No appointments are needed and walk-ups are welcome. The COVID-19 vaccine offered will be the single-dose Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccine. An “instant” HIV test will also be available, with results provided on-site.
“Our goal is to make it quick and easy for anyone visiting or working downtown to stop by and get a free shot or test. It only takes a few minutes to protect yourself,” explained Whitney Howell, District Nursing Director.
Although appointments are not required, anyone wishing to make an appointment may do so by visiting bit.ly/NEHDCOVIDVaccine or by calling 706-340-0996.
