Fred J Weinman II

Fred J Weinman II, 90, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2025, with his family lovingly by his side.

He was a 35-year resident of Rabun County in Northeastern Georgia, a place he called home. Fred loved his time in the mountains, from his days as a guidance counselor at Rabun Gap Nacoochee School to greeting players as the starter on the first tee at Sky Valley Golf Club.

Born January 6, 1935, in Hamilton Ohio, Fred attended Hamilton High School where he participated in varsity basketball and tennis. He was honored for his athleticism when he became a member of the Butler County Ohio Athletic Hall of Fame.

Fred earned an undergraduate degree in Education from Miami University, a masters degree in Higher Education from Xavier University and a second masters degree in Education Leadership from Clemson University. He played on the varsity basketball and tennis teams at Miami University and won multiple Mid American Conference tennis championships.

Fred displayed an enthusiasm for coaching whether it was assisting a high school student in developing their goals or nurturing a tennis player on the courts.

Upon retirement, Fred devoted time to his passions for gardening, golfing, and adopting dogs. He had a deep-seated love for plants and animals, finding joy in the process of growth and the connection with nature.

He was preceded in death by daughters Tamara and Tanya. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty J Weinman, son Fred J Weinman III (wife Susan Weinman), and sisters Susan Roemer and Barb Swisshelm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you plant a tree in Fred’s memory at A Living Tribute (www.alivingtribute.com) and to think of him fondly on a beautiful sunny day in Rabun County.
