Franklin Springs Mayor Lee Moore hopes his governing experience will pave a path to the State Capitol. On Feb. 6, Moore announced his candidacy for the District 50 State Senate seat. The seat is currently held by John Wilkinson (R-Toccoa) who is running for Congress.
The self-described “pro-life, pro-gun” Republican candidate touts his 10 years as mayor as proof of his strong leadership abilities.
“We eliminated debt, increased salaries for city employees and provided health, life, and cancer insurance. We updated our water and sewer infrastructure, repaired our roads and invested in state-of-the-art equipment for our police and fire departments,” he says. Moore says they achieved all that in Franklin Springs while cutting taxes.
If elected, he says he’ll work to keep Georgia the best state in the nation to do business “so there are jobs and opportunities for our North Georgia communities.” Moore adds he’ll protect the state’s agricultural interests, work to improve roads and infrastructure, and will prioritize education for Georgia Students.
“I’ll stand up to those in Atlanta that want to interfere with our way of life. You have my word, I’ll do it right the first time,” he says.
The qualifying deadline is March 6.
