Frances Nola Carter Long Holbrooks

Frances Nola Carter Long Holbrooks, age 77, of Mt. Airy, took her heavenly flight home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 16, 2024.

Born on July 9, 1947, in Westminster, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Novie and Maggie Turpin Carter. Mrs. Holbrooks was retired from Habersham County School System, where she worked in the cafeteria. In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, and she also enjoyed reading. She was a member of Welcome Baptist Church in Madison, South Carolina.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Mitchell Long; second husband, Andrew Holbrooks, Jr.; and sister, Shirley Carter.

Survivors include her daughters, Tina Lovell of Clarkesville and Tonya Holbrooks of Demorest; stepchildren, Tammy Ussery of Clayton, Teresa Bell and Todd Holbrooks, both of Demorest; grandchildren, Kathy Swinehart and Mitchell Arrowood, both of Clarkesville; great-grandchildren, Renese Mae Arrowood and Weston Arrowood; six step-grandchildren; 13 step-great-grandchildren; cousin and sister by choice, Betty Brooks (Charles) of Westminster, South Carolina; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives; bestie, Brian Taylor, and a host of other friends.

Funeral services are at 11 am on Saturday, October 19, 2024, in the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart, with Rev. Chad Holbrooks officiating. Interment will follow in Welcome Baptist Church Cemetery, St. Road S-37-38, Madison, South Carolina 29693.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, October 18, 2024.
