The Northeast Georgia legal community, family, and friends are mourning the loss of longtime Mountain Judicial Circuit District Attorney Mike Crawford. He passed away on Sunday, Dec. 15. He was 77.
A University of Georgia graduate and Navy veteran, Crawford earned his law degree in 1975, graduating sixth in his class from Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School. He went to work in the district attorney’s office the following year and retired in 2007.
Crawford is remembered as a man of integrity and kindness.
“Mike’s legacy will live on,” says Habersham County Coroner and family friend Kasey McEntire. “He leaves behind a tremendous legacy of service to not only our county but to the Mountain Judicial Circuit. He was an awesome gentleman, and he will be forever missed.”
Speaking on behalf of the family, former Habersham County Commissioner Natalie Crawford shared on social media, “We don’t have words for this loss right now, but we feel your prayers and appreciate all the calls and texts.”
The family will receive visitors at McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 19.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 20 at First Presbyterian Church in Cornelia.
