A former Athens-Clarke County police officer was arrested for the alleged sexual exploitation of children on Wednesday morning, according to the GBI.
Amber Nicole Ferguson, 33, of Commerce, turned herself into the Jackson County Jail at 8 a.m. on Jan. 15.
Ferguson had allegedly been suspected of capturing sexually explicit photographs of a child before the Commerce Police Department requested GBI assistance on Dec. 1. Authorities say the accusations were prompted after a complaint was filed by a family member.
