Forbes Magazine: Northeast Georgia Health System among “Best Employers” in Georgia

Northeast Georgia Health System was recently named to Forbes magazine’s list of America’s Best Employers By State. The list ranked 1,382 employers across the nation and ranked NGHS among the top 15 organizations in Georgia.

Northeast Georgia Health System CEO Carol Burrell called the distinction “an honor and privilege.” She attributes NGHS’ inclusion on the list to the organization’s “fair pay, safe working conditions, inclusive culture, diversity initiatives, and more.”

“We have learned to work together through the challenges and difficulties of the past few years, which is why I am so proud to see us recognized as one of America’s Best Employers,” Burrell says.

Northeast Georgia Health System placed 14th on the list of Georgia’s top 100 employers. Delta tops the list followed by the Southern Company (2) and Google (3). Rounding out the top 20 best employers in Georgia are:

Ingles Markets ranked 23 with Publix coming in at 26 on the list. Other top state employers with operations in Northeast Georgia include the Univesity of Georgia, Target, UPS, Bath and Body Works, the State of Georgia (50), Gwinnett County Public Schools, Pruitt Health, Verizon, and the U.S. Postal Service.

Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia topped the list of America’s Best Large Employers followed by the Southern Company.

Forbes worked with market research company Statista and surveyed 70,000 employees working for businesses with more than 500 employees. Respondents were asked to rate their employers on a variety of criteria, including safety of the work environment, the competitiveness of compensation, opportunities for advancement, and openness to telecommuting.

Surveys were conducted anonymously, allowing participants to freely share their opinions. The final list ranks the 1,382 employers that received the most recommendations.
