It was another disappointing week for the Habersham Central Raiders as they dropped their fourth straight, this time to Dacula.
The Raiders kept it close up to the 3rd quarter. They only trailed by 3 at the half but Dacula held Habersham in the second half. The Falcons put up 21 unanswered points and walked away with the win, 35-17. With the loss, Habersham drops to 2-5 overall, 0-4 in the region. Dacula improves to 4-3 overall, and 4-1 in Region 8(6A).
White County shut out West Hall on the road Friday, 42-0.
The Stephens County Indians regained their footing with a 37-0 shutout of Franklin County. With the win, the Indians improve their near-perfect season to 6-1 overall. Next, they take on Hart County Oct. 22. The Bulldogs head into that game with a matching record. Hart County dropped to 6-1 Friday, losing to Oconee County 35-13. J.L. Lackey rushed for 151 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries in a losing cause.
No. 1. Rabun County (6-1) beat Grovetown 45-14. Gunner Stockton was 24-of-35 passing for 328 yards and five touchdowns and rushed for 51 yards. Jaden Gibson had 10 receptions for 137 yards. Stockton has thrown 147 TD passes and scored 68 touchdowns. The total of 215 is the most in history, surpassing Deshaun Watson’s 214. Next: Friday at Banks County (1-5).
No. 1 Jefferson remains undefeated after beating Cedar Shoals 34-9 in Class 4A action. Jefferson rushed for 339 yards and completed only one pass, a 20-yarder that gave the Dragons a 21-9 lead just before halftime. Reese Johnson rushed for 114 yards on 13 carries. QB Malaki Starks missed his second consecutive game with an injury. Next up, the Dragons are on the road Oct. 22 at Chestatee (3-3).
