Folma Edwin “Buddy” Peace

Mr. Folma Edwin “Buddy” Peace, age 83, of Demorest passed away Sunday, May 17, 2015 at his residence following an extended illness.

Born in Fairfax, Georgia, on June 28, 1931, he grew up in Dixie Union, Georgia and resided most recently in Demorest in North Georgia. He was the oldest son of the late Elbert Duncan Peace and Martha Ann Jordan Peace of Dixie Union. He was also preceded in death by a twin sister, Wilma Evelyn “Sis” Fullard; sister, Judy Williamson; brother David Peace.

Mr. Peace served in the United States Air Force between 1948 and 1950 as Corporal.  He owned and operated Buddy’s Body Shop in Ware County for many years and worked in the body shop of several automobile dealerships over the years. He retired and moved to North Georgia about 21 years ago. He was a member of Hephzibah Baptist Church.  He enjoyed playing many different music instruments but loved playing the guitar and singing the old country, gospel, and bluegrass music the most.  He loved talking with people and never met a stranger.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Ally Gilliard Peace, of Demorest; daughters, Celestine Young, of Lagrange, Deorbrah Robe (Raemonn) of Poulsbo, Washington,  Lawanna Barnett (Michael) of Columbia, Mississippi and Sandra Roberson of Atlanta; sons, Bobby Peace  and Folma Peace both of Waycross and Cuyler Peace of Demorest; 15 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; brother, Jerry Peace (Gail) and sister, Karen Brown all of Waycross; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives; first wife, Vonice Nelson of Lagrange.

Mr. Peace’s wishes were to donate his body to the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 20, 2015, from 4:00pm-6:00pm at McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home.
