The Sautee Nacoochee Community Association has announced that the Folk Pottery Museum of Northeast Georgia and the Sautee Nacoochee Cultural Center are now Blue Star Museums.

Blue Star Museums is a collaboration among the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, the Department of Defense, and museums across America. The program provides free admission to the nation’s currently-serving military personnel and their families, including National Guard and Reserve. The 2022 Blue Star Museums program began on Armed Forces Day, Saturday, May 21, and ends on Labor Day, Monday, September 5.

Kevin McGrath of Sautee, a member of the SNCA Board of Directors and a retired Marine, says he’s “excited about the Blue Star Museum program as a way to recognize and thank both local veterans and those visiting Northeast Georgia.” He notes that a Nielsen survey ranked Georgia as 9th with veteran residents.

There are more than two dozen Blue Star Museums in the state of Georgia. For a list of those and other participating museums nationwide, visit arts.gov/bluestarmuseums

The Folk Pottery Museum of Northeast Georgia and the Sautee Nacoochee Cultural Center are located at 283 Highway 255 North, a quarter-mile north of the Georgia Highway 17 intersection.
