Pardue Mill Road near Demorest has reopened to traffic after being closed for several hours on Tuesday, July 30, due to flooding.

Habersham County officials say the road is safe for travel.

“Several downed trees have been cleared from the road, and the water has receded at this time,” says county PIO Rob Moore.

The flooding was caused by intense, heavy rains that fell across northern Georgia late Tuesday afternoon, July 30. With more storms in the forecast, there is a possibility of more localized flooding. Officials urge drivers to remain alert to changing weather conditions.

The forecast calls for a chance of thunderstorms through the first of next week.
