Large numbers of voters across the state have cast their ballots early during the first week of advanced voting for November’s general election.

Overall, this election already has seen more voters go to the polls during the first five days of early voting than turned out for the entire advanced voting period for the presidential and local primaries in March and May.

According to the Secretary of State’s Office, Georgia posted a 19.2% early voter turnout. Nearly 1.4 million of the state’s 7.1 million active voters cast in-person and absentee ballots between Tuesday, October 15 and Saturday, October 19.
