(Cleveland)- The first positive rabies case in 2018 in White County has been reported. Sean Sullivan, Environmental Health Manager said Monday that two dogs had contact recently with a rabid raccoon in the Ray Pardue Road area the county.
The raccoon was shipped to the Georgia Public Health Lab – Virology Section in Decatur.
Sullivan said White County Environmental Health was advised Monday that the raccoon tested positive for rabies. Positive alert signs will be posted in the area where the rabid raccoon was located.

Animal owners are encouraged to vaccinate their domesticated pets for rabies.
Sullivan advised that the two dogs involved are in quarantine and are current on their rabies vaccinations.
