The Piedmont College cycling program has its course set for the first time with the inaugural schedule released earlier this week by Head Coach Jame Carney.
The schedule for the fall semester features two track events and five mountain bike events beginning with this weekend (September 3 and 4) as the Lions head to the Tiger Territory Mountain Race hosted by Clemson University cycling in Central, South Carolina.
The four course event includes one all new as the DS is a two-lane course with twisting berms and features that will serve as challenges for all the riders while the STXC course is a difficult one as well featuring a decisive fiveroad climb that drops down onto a fast singletrack descent.
With the Tiger Territory Mountain Race held on September 3 and 4, PC won’t have long to rest before its next event hitting the track the next day for the SECCC Track Cup hosted by Georgia Tech cycling in the Dick Lane Velodrome in East Point, Georgia. The event is one of only two track events on the slate for the fall with the other being the USAC Collegiate Track Nationals held September 15 to 17.
Track Nationals will take place in Rock Hill, South Carolina while Piedmont also plans to participate in the USAC Collegiate Mountain Bike Nationals as well later in October in Snowshoe, West Virginia.
The Nationals event in Mountain Bike is the last of five mountain bike events on the schedule as Piedmont also plans to head to Union University in Jackson, Tennessee for a SECCC MTB event on September 10 and 11.
After PC’s trip to Union and a stop at Track Nationals, the Lions then have back-to-back weekends of mountain bike competition participating in an event hosted by King University in Bristol, Tennessee first on October 1 and 2 before heading to the Southeast Collegiate Cycling Conference Championships on October 8 and 9 hosted by Mars Hill.
