First Baptist hosts American music concert Sunday

First Baptist Minister of Worship & Music Randy LeBlanc accepts applause from the audience at last year’s American Music Concert. Approximately 300 people attended the event. This year’s concert will be at 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 25, at the church located at 325 Oak Street, Cornelia.

First Baptist Church of Cornelia will again usher in the July Fourth holiday with a celebration of American music.

Due to the tremendous response to last year’s concert, the church’s Sanctuary Choir and professional orchestra will present “Homeward Bound: A Celebration of American Music” at 6 p.m. on Sunday evening, June 25.

The church calls the concert its “musical gift to our community.” It will highlight the music of America, both from its sacred heritage and popular culture.

The sacred portion of the concert will highlight several spirituals and, by popular demand, end with Mack Wilberg’s stunning arrangement of Amazing Grace, sung by the choir and audience accompanied by the orchestra.

“And yes, the bagpiper will be back!” says First Baptist Minister of Worship & Music Randy LeBlanc.

The second half of the concert will be a delightful time of sampling music from some of America’s leading popular music composers and arrangers, such as George Gershwin, along with some stirring patriotic selections.

“I encourage you to use this event as an opportunity to invite your family and friends to attend and help us fill our sanctuary for a time of inspiration and fun, all to the glory of God,” says LeBlanc.

Admission to the concert is free. First Baptist Church of Cornelia is located at 325 Oak Street in Cornelia.
