An early morning fire Thursday left a White County family homeless

Around 3 a.m. on November 14, firefighters responded to a report of a structure fire at 62 Aardvark Trail. When they arrived they discovered that a fire in the pump house had spread to the main house, according to White County Fire Services spokesperson Ana Newberry.

No one was injured in the fire but it destroyed the mobile home. The Red Cross was called in to assist the family.

Officials are investigating to determine the cause and origin of the fire.

Just seven hours earlier, on Wednesday night, White County firefighters responded to a call of a chimney fire at a house at 5385 Highway 254. Newberry says the flames were contained to the chimney. Firefighters managed to put it out with a type of chemical flare called a “Chimfex stick”.

They advised the homeowner to have the chimney cleaned prior to future use. No injuries were reported.
