Firefighters respond to two commercial fires in White County

A commercial vehicle fire Friday afternoon at Phoenix Crane Service in Cleveland briefly spread to the adjacent building. Officials say the blaze, was reported around 2:07 p.m. on Nov. 29.

According to White County 911 Communications, a passerby reported black smoke and flames coming from the side of the building at 2400 Highway 129 South.

White County and Cleveland firefighters, along with EMS and sheriff’s deputies, responded to the call. Upon arrival, emergency personnel found a commercial vehicle with the cab fully involved in flames. The fire had extended to the nearby building, but firefighters were able to quickly extinguish it.

Officials say no one was inside the building at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported.

Later Friday afternoon, a second commercial fire was reported at Express Mart Exxon #5 at 1900 Highway 129 South in Cleveland. Smoke was reported from one of the store’s coolers. However, upon arrival, first responders found the situation under control and canceled all incoming units.
