Firefighters respond to structure fire off GA 15/US 441 in Mt. Airy

Multiple Habersham County fire units responded to a structure fire off GA 15/US 441 North at Toccoa Highway in Mt. Airy. Emergency vehicles had temporarily blocked the right lane of the highway, reducing northbound traffic to one lane.

A 911 caller alerted Habersham County authorities to the fire around 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 22.

According to Habersham County Public Information Officer Ashlyn Brady, Habersham County Fire and EMS, as well as Cornelia Fire Department units were dispatched to a structure fire located at 243 Glade Creek Parkway that is adjacent to GA 17/ Toccoa Highway and GA 15/US 441 at 1:31 p.m.

Brady said that the property was abandoned and no one was in the home at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported.

Fire crews remained on the scene Thursday afternoon investigating the cause of the fire.
