A Monday afternoon fire in Alto heavily damaged a house and detached garage.
The fire broke out around 3:19 p.m. at 289 Hidden Valley Drive.
Crews arrived to find the 1500-square-foot garage and single-family residence heavily involved with fire, says Banks County Fire Chief Steve Nichols.
Firefighters from Habersham, Baldwin, Lee Arrendale, and Jackson County assisted Banks County on the call. They remained on scene for over four hours, battling the blaze and putting out hot spots.
No one was injured in the incident. Authorities believe a burn barrel left unattended was the cause of the fire. The State Fire Marshal’s Office ruled the fire as accidental.
