A small stove fire briefly threatened a lakeside restaurant in Gainesville. The fire broke out early Thursday inside Skogies on Marina Drive off of Dawsonville Highway.
Around 8 a.m. on May 25, Hall County and Gainesville firefighters responded to reports of smoke coming from the restaurant. They entered and found a small stove fire that had partially spread into the crawl space.
Personnel fought the fire from the interior of the building and extinguished it in minutes, according to a fire department spokesperson.
No one was inside the restaurant at the time of the fire. As of 9:45 a.m., both agencies were still on the scene ventilating the structure.
The cause of the fire is unknown and under investigation by the Hall County Fire Marshal’s Office.
