A firefighter received minor injuries after an intense early-morning commercial fire in White County, according to public safety officials.
Just before 4 a.m. Friday, Jan. 31, White County firefighters responded to the commercial building fire on River Estates Road, located on the eastern side of White County. The fire was reported by the occupant of an attached apartment, who was awakened by smoke before they called 911.
Upon arrival, White County Fire Services found a private automotive garage engulfed in flames with fire visible from the roof. Crews initially attacked the blaze before they were forced to transition to defensive operations due to the fire’s intensity and concerns over the building’s structural integrity.

One firefighter was treated on scene for minor injuries. Fire crews remained on-site throughout the morning to extinguish hot spots and prevent re-ignition.
During the blaze, additional support was provided by Lee Arrendale Correctional Institute (LACI) personnel to assist with firefighting efforts. White County Emergency Management’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) deployed its Rehabilitation Unit to aid firefighters with recovery efforts during and after the incident.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Georgia State Fire Marshal’s Office.
