Fire Displaces Four Families In Helen

(Helen)- Four families were displaced as a result of an apartment fire in Helen Friday morning. White County Public Safety Director David Murphy said by email, 9-1-1 received a call at 3:24 AM that there was an apartment fire at 327 Brucken Strasse, Wilder Apartments.

Initial callers reported smoke from the attic area and flames through the roof. The fire was brought under control at 6:59 AM. Fire units were still on scene at 8:30AM Friday.

According to Murphy no one was injured and no determination as to the cause has been made. A fire investigator has been called to the scene.

The American Red Cross was called to assist the displaced families.
