An afternoon fire Saturday in White County destroyed a barn, but quick action by firefighters kept the blaze from spreading, officials say.
Shortly after 12 Noon on January 21, White County Dispatch received a call about a fully involved barn fire near Highway 115 East. The caller said the fire was nearing other structures. White County Fire Services responded with mutual aid from the Cleveland Fire Department.
“Fire personnel’s swift response resulted in containing the blaze and prevented it from spreading to a nearby chicken house,” says White County Public Safety PIO Bryce Barrett. “Within minutes of the initial call, fire personnel achieved knockdown and continued to extinguish hotspots.”
According to Barrett, the barn was a total loss. The CERT Rehab truck was also dispatched to aid first responders combatting the fire.
