The State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of a fire that destroyed a vacant structure in White County. Firefighters responded to the fire in the area of Paradise Valley Road on Thursday afternoon, July 27.

The structure was fully involved when units from White County Emergency Services and the Cleveland Fire Department arrived.

“Fire personnel were able to quickly contain and achieve knockdown of the fire,” says White County Public Information Officer Bryce Barrett.

Because the fire was close to a heavily wooded area, Georgia Forestry officials responded to the scene to assess the blaze and prevent it from spreading.

White County Emergency Management’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) responded with their rehab unit to help firefighters stay hydrated and safe in the soaring summer heat.

Fire personnel remained on the scene throughout the afternoon to make sure the fire was out and prevent it from rekindling.
