Fire destroys double-wide near Clarkesville

State investigators are still trying to determine what caused an early morning fire that swept through a mobile home near Clarkesville on Saturday, burning it to the ground.

Habersham E-911 dispatched firefighters to the scene at 12:33 a.m. on October 30 after receiving a report of a house fire at 974 Rennie Hames Road.

Multiple units from Habersham County Emergency Services and Clarkesville Fire Department responded to the scene. When they arrived, the structure was fully involved.

Firefighters remained on the scene for several hours, extinguishing the flames and putting out hotspots.

No one was home at the time of the blaze, says state fire investigator Brian Smith. He adds, “The fire is undetermined and still under investigation at this time.”
