(Cleveland) – A White County home was heavily damaged by a fire Friday afternoon around 2 PM. The blaze was reported to 9-1-1 dispatch by a motorist passing at 2988 Lothridge Road. Several White County fire units, City of Cleveland and fire fighters from Lee Arrendale Correctional Institute responded.
White Fire Chief Norman Alexander said, it was first reported that someone was inside the burning home, but he said they did a primary and a secondary search and found no one. The fire is believed to have started at the rear of the house which received extensive damage. As for as the cause Alexnander said, “Uncertain, we’ve got an investigator coming that will look at it and tell us how, where it started.”
Due to high winds the fire spread to a large area next to the house. Georgia Forestry assisted in making sure that fire didn’t spread any further.
