A worker at the Fieldale poultry plant in Cornelia was injured on the job Wednesday morning when his arm got stuck in a machine.
Around 4:30 a.m., Habersham County E-911 dispatched EMS and Cornelia firefighters to the plant on Irvin Street.
“Upon arrival, [the] subject had been removed from the machinery by co-workers,” says Habersham County Emergency Services Capt. Matt Ruark. He says the man suffered “obvious injuries.”
Emergency personnel transported the injured worker to the trauma center at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.
Now Habersham reached out to Fieldale Farms and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration for more information about the incident but has not heard back from them.
