Father/Son duo accused of running interstate drug operation through Habersham

A father and son face charges in Habersham for allegedly using a county address as a front for an interstate drug operation.

57-year old Armando Cabrera Quintana of Commerce was arrested Wednesday after authorities intercepted a package containing nine pounds of “high grade” marijuana.

The Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office (ARDEO) says agents intercepted the package after learning Quintana’s son Daniel shipped the marijuana from his hometown of Stockton, California to the Habersham County address.

“The ARDEO intercepted the package with the marijuana in Athens, GA. Through extensive investigative work, Habersham and Banks County authorities learned Armando Carbrera Quintana of Commerce used this Habersham address only as a receiving location for the marijuana that was shipped from his son, Daniel,” says ARDEO Special Agent in Charge Mitchell Posey.

He says the estimated street value of the drugs is $43,200.

The elder Quintana was arrested and charged with conspiracy to possess marijuana with the intent to distribute and conspiracy to distribute marijuana.  He was transported to the Habersham County Detention Center.

Daniel Quintana is also charged with conspiracy to possess marijuana with the intent to distribute and conspiracy to distribute marijuana. He currently remains in Stockton, California where, Posey says, “he is set to be arrested and extradited to Habersham County, Georgia to be processed on his charges.”

Posey says the investigation continues.
