Father and son arrested for drugs, weapons in White County

A recent tip led authorities to seize scores of drugs and weapons as a father and son now face charges, according to the White County Sheriff’s Office.

White County Narcotics Investigations and Crime Suppression Units received information on Tuesday, Feb. 4, indicating a subject named Danny Shane Helton, 33, of Cleveland, was allegedly involved in the distribution of methamphetamine within the White County area.

Police say an investigation later determined that Helton had an outstanding warrant for a probation violation from Habersham County. At 9 a.m. Tuesday, investigators found Helton at an address on Blue Water Drive – where a search warrant was obtained for the property.

Upon executing the warrant, investigators allegedly discovered a substantial quantity of illegal substances and firearms, including 517 grams of marijuana, 15 grams of methamphetamine, two Hydrocodone pills, three firearms, digital scales and various drug-related objects.

Authorities say Helton, a convicted felon, was charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of schedule II (Hydrocodone), possession of marijuana greater than one ounce, possession of firearm by convicted felon (three counts), possession of firearm during commission of a felony and possession of drug-related objects

Danny Lee Helton, the 65-year-old father of Danny Shane Helton, also was charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of schedule II (Hydrocodone), possession of marijuana greater than one ounce, possession of firearm by convicted felon (three counts), possession of firearm during commission of a felony and possession of drug-related objects.
