The Habersham County Coroner’s Office has released the name of the man killed in an early morning wreck in Cornelia.
Deputy Coroner Ken Franklin identifies the victim as 53-year old Soubanh Tenakoun of Cornelia.
The accident happened around 6:41 a.m. at the intersection of Baldwin Road and GA 15/Hwy. 441 South bypass.
According to a report released by the Georgia State Patrol, Tenakoun was driving a 1998 Honda Civic west on Baldwin Road when he failed to yield and ran into the path of a 2012 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck traveling north on the bypass.
The truck ran into the left side driver and passenger door. After impact both vehicles traveled into the southbound lanes of GA 15.
Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts. Franklin says Tenakoun died from blunt force trauma. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the pickup, 38-year old Jason Way of Baldwin, was not injured.
The accident shut down part of the south bypass for several hours. The State Patrol says no charges were issued.
