Wow, August is here. I don’t know about anyone else, but I am ready for fall weather! Fortunately, while the fall is not here yet, the summer bounty from our local farms helps ease the pain of the hot hot weather. This week is a special week at the Clarkesville Farmers’ Market. Three of the farm interns are holding a bake sale fundraiser. All of the proceeds will go for their tuition and books. There is a little information about each intern after the marekt report. Please consider helping out these hardworking young women. I also highly recommend Emma’s granola bars.

Emma is a sophomore at UGA majoring in Horticulture. She became interested in gardening after experimenting with a small backyard vegetable plot. Her interest in gardening grew into a love for farming; through her internship at Melonhead, she has learned the various aspects of running a small farm. Her goal is to one day own and operate a small organic farm.
Carson is a senior at the University of Georgia majoring in Agri-science and Environmental Systems. With this degree, she hopes to work with children, teaching an appreciation for where our food comes from and how it can be fun to grow sustainably.
