The Atlanta Falcons are back home in Georgia after Sunday’s heartbreaking 34-28 loss to New England in Sunday’s Super Bowl. The team returned home from Houston Monday afternoon. Returning with them, memories of the most historic game in NFL history and the awful pang of devastating defeat.
For most of Sunday’s big game the Falcons had the title in their sights. The birds dominated the Patriots straight up through the 3rd quarter. With the Falcons leading 28-3, New England put up 25 unanswered points to tie the game and throw it into overtime – a first in Super Bowl history. The Pats won the coin toss and took possession of the ball in sudden death overtime. They marched 75 yards on eight plays, winning on a final two-yard run by running back James White.
Sunday’s record comeback by Tom Brady and the Patriots not only stunned the Falcons, it left football fans everywhere reeling with emotion prompting us to ask the question: “What one word would you use to describe this year’s Super Bowl?”
